Fabulous Facebook
The thing that makes Facebook so fun and enjoyable is simple — our connectivity and interconnectivity on a local, national and global scale. Never has our connectivity been more apparent than it is now. We’re always been connected to each other; ever since man, woman and all of nature first peered up at the stars have we realized that. In modern times, however, we’ve forgotten to look up at the stars to see it, especially in the cities where light pollution is intense. We’re also bombarded by myriad images from every media source imaginable – TV, radio, cinema, Internet, mobile, smoke signals, etc. Facebook has served to bridge the gap between our connectivity and our awareness of it. People we may not see regularly and don’t have the time to talk to on the phone or pay a visit to can still keep in touch with us and we can share our lives with them via Facebook and we can even share bite-size pieces of our lives with others on Twitter.
We don’t give ourselves enough credit. We’re more powerful than we realize! Is it in the best interests of the government, organized religion and the media to let us know that? Probably not. Perhaps we’re a little easier to control, exploit, maintain, bamboozle and bilk when we’re kept in the Dark Ages. Right? SunShign Daily is here to shine the light on universal truths! I remember seeing a movie called “They Live” when I was a kid and I was frightened by its images of mind control, alienism and sleepwalking. It’s about a disenfranchised working stiff played by Piper who suddenly sees clearly thanks to a pair of crazy shades that he finds. Check it out! It’ll blow your mind. I’m all out of bubble gum! SUNSHIGN OF THE TIMES 2 is coming this spring and it will be a groundbreaking documentary! Prepare yourself. Do you have a rich inner life? How is your relationship with yourself? We’ll touch on this, that and a whole lot more!
Case in point: Does anyone see a correlation between rising gas prices and the record-breaking profits of the oil companies? How do they justify the price increases? Is it because their profits aren’t big enough? To put it into perspective, consider this fact: Apple briefly surpassed Exxon as the world’s biggest company a few weeks ago but it didn’t last very long; Exxon quickly reclaimed the top spot. Yes, Exxon is BIGGER profit-wise than even Apple! And Obama, who is quick to take credit for the American auto industry’s turnaround, is strangely silent on rising fuel prices. Go figure! He doesn’t drive. Maybe he doesn’t even look at the prices at the pump from his presidential Detroit-made Cadillac or Yukon. A smartass Capricorn friend of mine told me something funny: “I don’t even think Obama is real!” Hmmm…is he? So what about congressional oversight of the oil companies? Wait, a lot of those congresspeople are bought, paid for, signed, sealed and delivered by big oil so forget that idea. Wake up, people!!!! SUNSHIGN OF THE TIMES 2 will be more than just a progressive rant. It’s a CALL TO ACTION! Do you prefer text? Okay, it’s a TEXT TO ACTION!
Hallmark Birthday Greetings: Rock ‘N Fish – Sidney Poitier, Rihanna, Ivana Trump and the memory of Kurt Cobain
Oh, yeah, fish sure can drink but they can do so many other things, too! They can act and sing and dance and cry, cry, cry and sacrifice themselves at the altar of love, sometimes several times over, a la Piscean acting legend Liz Taylor. Fish can swim over, under, around and even through most things in their path; it’s through this remarkable adaptability that Pisces find an inner strength; they may seem placid and unassuming on the outside but there’s always sea of fluid, changing thought, emotion and moods in every Pisces.
Pisces people have had a rough past couple of years, with no-nonsense Saturn dropping many fish hooks and lures in the form of challenges involving other people, especially from 2007-10, when Saturn was in Virgo, the 7th house of partnership to Pisces. But that’s over now, fish. Thank God for that! I often tell people that astrology saved my life. It helped me understand myself but, more importantly, it helped me understand what was happening to me and why. If it hadn’t been for the guidance of astrology and the love and support of family and friends, I don’t know where I’d be today. This blog was born out of the ashes of some now-former relationships. I got into astrology and decided to write a regular blog about it after picking up the pieces and putting a puzzle together. I finally saw my own reflection staring back at me in my birth chart. It suddenly all made sense! The sea of contradictions inside of me was to be embraced and not shunned. After all, I gotta be me! Who else could I be? =)
Now that the Sun is shimmering in the cool, misty waters of Pisces, the dreamy powers of Neptune and the healing effects of Chiron are amplified. Whatever challenges you’ve faced, Pisces, have ultimately served to make you stronger and more resourceful. The healing force of Chiron will help you be more kind, forgiving and loyal to yourself and your own needs, Pisces. Neptune will bring out all that is inherently you and it will help you to find true meaning, purpose and you’ll do what you love with conviction. Love, care, mercy and devotion will take away any feelings of unrequited love and help you accept things as they are. Forget the coulda, shoulda, wouldas, because the first day of the rest of your life is here and it’s now! Never dive down the drain into oblivion but rise up to any challenge and swim upstream unbridled. Imagination, like fire, can be a good servant but a bad master. Sometimes our imaginations can work against us; do not indulge in fear because it can produce negative emotions. Someone wise once told me that all human action can be traced back to two emotions: love and fear. I’ll take love over fear any day!
I first saw “To sir, with love” in my junior high school humanities class and I was impressed and in awe of this actor who could project feelings with such grace and refinement.
Rihanna is a chameleon of a thousand looks and her voice is silky, smooth, powerful and very emotionally-charged! She doesn’t exactly change her looks for the sake of shock and awe as does sultry Aries vixen Lady Gaga, but she does do it with a certain flair and savoir-faire. Hers is more genuine, not quite as overdone and in-your-face-flashy. She’s so changeable because hers is a mutable sign of emotion and she projects it in her music so well. My mind has often been in Disturbia.
Not very many women can keep up with the fast-talking, mutable, self-promoting energy of the Donald, a famous Gemini Dog (really, Donald Trump is a Dog, as in he was born in the year of the Dog, woof-woof, he’s uber-practical and sufficiently bombastic) but Ivana Trump, a mutable Pisces woman of exquisite beauty, charm and grace, was able to handle her famous ex-hubby’s antics. The Czech-born beauty now has her own line of products called “Ivana Haute Couture” and has made a few television appearances on reality competition shows in both the states and in Italy.
An idealist, a poet and a man with a penchant for diving the depths of his soul to come up with lyrics that defied the limits of reality and flew in the face of the standards of society, Kurt Cobain was the quintessential rocker who held his angst close as a warm blanket of emotional ecstasy and upheaval. Much like another Pisces, Johnny Cash, Kurt was unafraid of intense emotion and his music often transcended everything to get to the very heart and soul of his listeners. The memory and the music of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana will live forever. Kurt wrote about his extreme Piscean sensitivity and he tried to understand himself by peering up at the stars, where he shines on for eternity.
Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston had her Sun in Leo so she was the consummate performer and a true show person; her Aries moon may have made her ready for anything, always willing to entertain an interesting suggestion, in search of the next adventure. She was a Pisces rising and her music allowed her to transcend. Just listen to “I Will Always Love you” and you will hear that transcendence — her voice almost reached out to other dimensions of glory and greatness. There was a time when you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing that song on the radio. Her Pisces ascendent may have given her an escapist tendency, especially when things got rough in her personal life. One interesting aspect of Whitney’s is that her sun was in opposition Saturn. Even though it appeared that self-confidence came naturally to her, it took some work. Proud, adventurous, young at heart, humble, imaginative and self-critical, Whitney was a walking sea of contradictions, as many of us are. She passed away suddenly in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverly Hilton just eight days after Neptune entered Pisces and only a couple of days following the full moon in her SunShign of Leo. For a closer look at Whitney’s chart, click her photo:
Whitney’s wonderful talent and remarkable gifts will be with us always. Her stardom was especially bright around the time of “The Bodyguard” soundtrack. The “Being Bobby Brown” reality show she starred in was a train wreck and was no doubt the nadir of the pop superstar’s existence. In it, Whitney & Bobby appeared disheveled, slurring and obviously intoxicated. Her vices notwithstanding, Whitney was still a very soulful, loving woman who could not vanquish her personal demons. It’s not her struggles that we will most remember her for, though, thank goodness.
The message of her music will eclipse any memories of addiction. Rest in peace, Whitney. Thank you for gracing our presence with your beautiful voice. We’ll miss you.
Our love is your love forever. This is my favorite Whitney song. I remember when her Greatest Hits came out in the early 2000′s. I liked this remix of “My Love is Your Love” because it was very deep yet uplifting. I’d often listen to it while driving because it’d always make me feel good. Whitney had that way about her; no matter what was going on in her life, she projected these feelings of warmth and deepness. Her songs had meaning and the way she sang them telegraphed a powerful message.
